Skelivka or Felshtyn until 1945 year / ukr. Скелівка – Фельштин) (49°32’07” N,  22°57’45” E). It's former name is: Fulshtyn, Folsteyn, Felstin, Fullensteyn, Fulsthine, Fulstin. Origin of village name derives from the ancestral seat of Herburts in Moravia - Fortress Fulshtyn (still exists). The first mention of Felshtyn comes from 1374 year.

Herburts is a German family of knights Vulm with roots in Westphalia (Lower Saxony). They were granted land for their services for the Prince Wladyslaw Opolski – during an expedition to the Galicia Ruthenia. During the war with the King of Ruthenia – Danylom Galyckym (Daniel I Romanovych Galyckyy (ukr. Данило Галицький). He fought on the side of the Prince – founder of Fulshtayn, Moravia – Herbort of Fulm.

In Felsztyn in the early sixteenth century, was born Jan Herburt - diplomat, castellan of Sanol and the governor of Przemyśl, author of many works on diplomatic topics. After Herburts Felsztyn owners were familly of Danillewich (Palace in Felsztyn).

During World War II Jewish population was deported to the camp at Belzec. Synagogue and Jewish cemetery – destroyed and devastated.

What is worth seeing in Skelivka / Felsztyn :

  • Church St. Martin of the fifteenth century,
  • Defense tower and bell tower of the fifteenth century near the church of St.. Martin,
  • Baronial palace built at the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries,
  • Orthodox Church. Kuzma and Demian from 1790 year,
  • Schveik Memorial,
  • Jewish Cemetery,
  • The old synagogue was built at the turn of the nineteenth-century (now dwelling house).

Closest border crossings are:

Railway border crossing :

Krościenko-Khyriv, open in 1994 year for international passenger traffic. The border control of passengers and the train is done within international trains . Customs clearance takes place in the building of the railway station. Within day are passed 2 trains of international relations: Jasło-Khyriv-Jasło (to Poland) and several trains in the direction Sambir (passenger trains). The border crossing is open day and night.

Road border crossing:

Krościenko - Smolnica, opened in 2002 year. Located at the Polish national road 84 and Ukrainian T1412. The border crossing is open day and night. Info: passenger and goods traffic by vehicles with a permissible total weight 7,5 tons !!!

It is interesting thing, that through Felsztyn now leads the international tourist trail: "Following the Good Soldier Schveyk" !!!

W 1947 roku przybył do Argentyny. po drugiej wojnie światowej. Wszystkie informacje o mieście i jego mieszkańcach są cenne. Szukam rodziny, która jest tam od mojego dziadka. dzięki!
